Once upon a time, John was in Wonderland... Like Alice in Lewis Caroll's tale, John Derian 's fantastic world is populated by strange creatures, arrows, red hearts, birds of paradise, hurried rabbits and big baroque cats. An atypical artist based in New York City, in the heart of the East Village, John Derian is inspired by animal, botanical or typographic motifs found here and there while hunting for old engravings or naturalist plates. He reprints them, cuts them out and puts them under glass or silkscreens them to create plates, dishes, bowls, and paper trays, but also cards, posters, paperweights, wallpapers or decorative objects. Surrounded by a small team of craftsmen, he perpetuates the beautiful tradition of the cabinets of curiosities of the past through his magical, poetic and fascinating universe. His high quality creations, as well as his collaborations with the ceramics brand
Astier de Villatteare only available in rare and carefully selected locations. For Jane de Boy, it is a great pride to show the work of this truly unique personality in the art world.
