Bella Freud Lucian Freud, great-granddaughter of the great Sigmund, has found the solution with all the creative whimsy that makes English women so charming. No need for psychoanalysis... The daughter of the artist Lucian Freud is a strong, committed personality who started out at Vivienne Westwood in the 80s, before relaunching the legendary London fashion boutique Biba. Parallel to her experiences in the film industry with John Malkovitch, and in journalism at the Sunday Telegraph, Bella Freud launched her own label of women's sweaters in 1990, in a very British sporty-chic style. At the time, her customers included Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, who were seduced by the high quality of her knitwear and the quirky, rock'n'roll messages it conveyed. Accessories, candles and perfumes have since completed the Bella Freud collections. The designer sees fashion from a cultural perspective, in direct connection with our unconscious desires...
