The UGG® sheepskin boots worn by Australian surfers have conquered the world... And yet, it wasn't a foregone conclusion! Love them or hate them, but UGG boots never leave you indifferent. Originally invented to keep feet warm after surfing thanks to the breathable properties of the material, they first appeared in Southern California around 1978. Australian surfer Brian Smith, a big fan of these beach boots, first imported a few pairs and created the UGG® brand in the USA. Soon, young people were snapping them up on California beaches from San Diego to Santa Cruz. Then they hit the mountains, from Aspen to Mammoth. The coolest phenomenon of the moment took off, until Oprah Winfrey, the American TV diva, admitted she was a fan. Hairpiece madness exploded. UGG® boots became fashion icons and were seen on the feet of celebrities everywhere, even in the city, even in summer. In the 2000s, models multiplied and the whole world gave in to UGG mania. They're worn with everything and in all weathers. Even those who find them ugly end up slipping a foot into them... The experience is worth all the talk in the world! It's soft, warm and furiously comfortable. For once, fashion and Wellness are one and the same - a myth was needed!
Frequently asked questions about the UGG® brand
In 1978, Brian Smith, a young Australian surfer, founded the UGG brand on the beaches of Southern California.
While the exact origin of the word UGG is not clearly defined, the term is often considered an abbreviation of "ugly", referring to the initial perception of these boots, sometimes judged as unattractive.
UGG shoes fit true to size, so we recommend you choose your usual size.
Historically, UGG boots were made in Australia and New Zealand. Today, most models are made in China, Vietnam or other countries, due to greater production needs.
To avoid unpleasant surprises when buying a shoe, be sure to check certain details, such as :
The packaging box: When you buy your UGGs as a new product, they must be delivered in their original box.
The sole: When buying or receiving a pair of boots, test the flexibility of the sole by twisting it. A genuine pair of UGGs should present no difficulty in this test.
We recommend using a special suede brush on dry stains.
Please note that we strongly advise against washing your UGGs in the washing machine. This could damage the materials of your shoes, such as sheepskin or leather.
We strongly recommend protecting your UGG boots with a special suede waterproofing product. This will enable you to wear your boots in complete safety. Apply the product at least 24 hours before use. Spray at least 15 cm from the shoe.
