Trained alongside John Galliano, Jérôme Dreyfuss gradually developed his original savoir-faire and launched his first women's ready-to-wear collection at just 23. He was immediately noticed by the Parisian elite for his impertinent, spontaneous fashion, which earned him the nickname "Enfant terrible de la Mode" by the press. In 2002, Dreyfuss changed direction with a collection of bags and leather accessories entitled "Roots de Luxe". 20 years later, the house has established its reputation as a benchmark for women, with accessories designed as the central element of an outfit, both practical and innovative, crafted in highly supple skins. The couturier, who shares his life with designer Isabel Marant, thus conceived what was to become his trademark for decades to come: soft, utilitarian, lightweight creations that echo women's curves. So as not to restrict their movements, Jérôme Dreyfuss adapts to their changing lifestyles, rhythms and attitudes. The designer offers them real life companions with first names: Billy, Boby or Igor for the best known. Jérôme Dreyfuss advocates and has always advocated values that have now become common to the whole of society, such as sustainable development, diversity and inclusiveness.
Frequently asked questions about the brand Jérôme Dreyfuss
Jérôme Dreyfuss is a French fashion and accessories designer, born in Nancy in 1974. He began his career in fashion by working for John Galliano, Hervé Léger and the Elite Model Management agency. In 1998, he launched his first ready-to-wear collection, which he named Couture à Porter. He then moved into the field of leather goods, creating his first line of accessories and handbags in 2002.
By seeking to create bags that are both beautiful and practical, Jérôme Dreyfuss has succeeded in creating an iconic brand, recognised for its craftsmanship and the quality of its pieces.
The Jérôme Dreyfuss bags are made in various workshops around the world. The company uses the local know-how of craftsmen in France, Italy, Morocco, India and Tunisia. The leather is tanned in Italy and France.
The origin of the skins also depends on geographical specialities: France and South Africa for cow and lamb, Vietnam and Indonesia for python, India and Nigeria for goat, New Zealand and Australia for veal and bullock.
The Jérôme Dreyfuss bags are mainly made of leather with traditional tanning. The brand uses mainly calf, cow, goat, lamb and bull skins, as well as python. The skins can be worked for a lamé, grained, nubuck, velvet crust effect or be embellished with embroidery. The lining of the bags is 100% cotton.
The Billy bag is the first model in the "Roots de Luxe" collection, the very first line launched by the House Jérôme Dreyfuss in 2002. This large, soft leather bag with elegant lines quickly became an it-bag and remains one of the brand's best-sellers to this day.
The Jérôme Dreyfuss bags are designed for everyday use and enhance all types of clothing. They can accompany a very casual outfit or accessorise a more formal look. Flexible, practical and light, they can be worn on the shoulder or cross-body, depending on the model.
You can clean your leather bag with a soft cloth, avoiding greasy products and water. The leather can be maintained with a suitable nourishing cream. However, you should be careful with certain skins, which require special care. For example, a product adapted to reptile skins should be used for python bags, applied in the direction of the scales. Also be sure to waterproof velvet and nubuck regularly with a spray.
In any case, the best way to clean your Dreyfuss bag without damaging the skin will depend on its composition and the tanning technique used.
